Anybody got any suggestions on how I can make some emrgency cash? My hours have been cut, only working 4 days a week now and that means I'm losing a whole days pay. I was just paying my bills as it was. Now i'm gonna lose about $400 bucks a month, would appreciate any advise.
My income was slashed as well and what I have been doing is purchasing bargains at garage sales and craigslist and reselling them on craigslist and ebay; particularly tools. These sell quick and people pay good money. I would say I'm making an extra $500-$700 a month doing this.
I always heard about people making money on ebay but how do you get started? It seems kinda confusing.
There is a multitude of books and websites about getting started with ebay on the internet. Another option while you are learning is to use a trading assistant. these are similar to consignment stores that will list your things for you in return for a percentage. If you want to learn more about that program you can visit ebays trading assistant site at:
I recently got a flier that was taped to my mailbox and it was from someone that paints your address on the curb in front of your house. The flier was printed on a half sheet of standard sized paper (so you could print 2 per page) and it did a great job of explaining the security and life saving benefits of having your address prominently displayed for police, firefighters and ambulance drivers.
The concept was simple, if you wanted the numbers painted, just fill out the form and leave it taped to your front door or window so it could be collected the next morning. There was a place on the flier where you checked a box for the standard painting ($15) or include a painted flag ( $20)
When I talked to the guy that was doing the painting he said he normally does 3 to 4 jobs an hour with almost no expenses. That's $45 to $80 per hour just working part time.
I've been thinking about doing something similar with "peep holes" for front doors. I recently installed one because I was tired of not knowing who was at my door, before I opened it. It only took about 10 minutes to do.
Anybody got any thoughts on whether you think this would work or not, before I try it?
You'll never know until you try. Just be sure and test it before you invest a lot in inventory. The rule is "market first, then the product." Circulate some fliers, talk to people, maybe even go door to door and ask questions.
I think it is a great idea. Your post makes me think back to when I first moved into my house several years ago. Someone came to my door and was doing exactly what you described. Since I had just moved in I didn't even realize my door didn't have a peep hole so I had one installed. Unfortunately I can't remember what they charged because it was several years ago.
The important thing is you have a basic model that can be duplicated with a host of homeowner services, if one service doesn't work you can always find one that does.
